Why Do I Think That I Am Better Than The Rest?

Assalamualaikum and A Very Good Day,

Its a little quiet in the office.. and its lunch hour now. And its worth mentioning, congratulations to Nuffnang on their first edition of Crunch magazine https://www.nuffnang.com.my/magazine Check it out and enjoy the magazine.

Now, coming back to my rant, while I was going through Crunch, they have this section Talent Scout - Influences Under Your marketing Radar. It speaks of successful bloggers such as Cik Epal http://cikepal06.blogspot.my/, and you tubers such as Elcah and the lots. I am sure some of us have read their blogs or seen their youtube channels. We can certainly see that they have their own forte and style in making their pages or videos success stories. For instance, when we look at Cik Epal, she speaks of simple things in life and on top of that, she has a list of recipes and some travel logs she went on. Elcah speaks on beauty.. make up techniques, methods of wearing scarfs and many more. They have spoken of things that may seemed normal and  cliche or even stuffs we may already know but reading or watching their thoughts could refresh our minds on the life we would be missing or what we could do to improve our lives. Definitely there are many more bloggers and vloggers who are well established and shall go on to contribute to their thoughts for the benefit of some of us, if not all. When I look at them, I admire their work. It does not matter what they talk about or what their thoughts are. The point is, they spell their thoughts out right in a manner that it captures the audience. One may not have to agree with their thoughts but one has to agree that these people can speak out in public, which many of us can't do well. me included.

There are also people who are close to me - cousins, friends and acquaintances who are successful in their own ways. Some are engineers, corporate figures, public figures, entrepreneurs, lecturers, PhD holders, trainers, accountants... you name it. they are everywhere making good money and a good life. Compared to them, I am a nobody. Yes, I am envious of them BUT not in a bad way. I don't have bad intentions. My envy is simply to boost up my spirits and to tell myself that I am capable too. Most of the time, successful people like those I know had to begin somewhere.. nothing comes easy, except for those few lucky ones. Its all about blood and sweat. I spoke to many of them, its all the same story line. I however, have yet to really find someone who would be my mentor for I realize I may not be worth their time. It does frustrates me at times, to see those successful people being up there while I am left down here. Then again, I do realize, even in akhirat, no one will help me. Maybe Allah is telling me to work through life alone; but I know, Allah is with me. No one promised me an easy life. So I have to pull my socks up and get to work instead of whining like a small boy.

There are also people who are successful as far is being an Islam is concerned. Though it is for Allah to decide who is or not successful, as His servant, I have an obligation to be His servant as best as I can. The one thing I envy is to those who and memorize the Al Quran. It is the only book we Islam hold on to. It is the only book of life and the only law that is in accordance to the human norms. I would someday, like to be able to read the Al Quran perfectly, if not, be able to memorize it. I know it is up to me to improve my ibadah and leave the wrongs. Allah did not make it difficult for us Islam to practice Islam. It is just us, humans who procrastinate and do not take Islam seriously. O Allah.. please help us be your servants as you have desired.

So, why did I say "Why Do I Think That I Am Better Than The Rest?" Well, to put it in a right perspective, I don't think I am better than many of them. In fact, I am humbled with the fact that I am still way backwards in many sense. This may be the wake up calls that I need to heed to and buck up. I thank those who have been supportive and shall do my best to not fail you and also myself.

Thank you
 Mohd Shazman
